Adonai Rocha Adonai Rocha is a Brazilian multimedia professional and photographer. He is currently the President and Project Coordinator of AJA Brasil.

Born in 1958, Adonai grew up in Brasília and began taking pictures in the 70’s as architecture photographer’s assistant. He studied TV and Cinema at the University of Brasília - UnB and photography and film at the Polytechnic of Central London and the British Film Institute.

Adonai worked as photojournalist, in Brasilia, for major national magazines and newspapers, and as freelance advertising and commercial photographer in Brasília. For many years he has worked in conservation and photographic restoration. Few but prestigious museums and galleries have exhibited Adonai’s photographs.

Prior to assuming his current position, Adonai worked for UNDP in Botswana, as educational TV director and producer, from 2002 to 2004. From 2005 to 2006 Adonai worked as ICTs director for ACHAP – collaboration between the Government of Botswana and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Adonai has received national and international prizes. In 1998, because of his outstanding work at AJA he was selected nationally to receive the Paulo Freire award for the use of Information and Communication Technologies best practices on educational programs. For his ICTs work on TV and web, he has been awarded the High Way Africa 2004 - Innovative Use of New Media Award, Rhodes University, South Africa. In 2008 Adonai was invited by the UNDP to the UN Headquarter when the program which he helped to implement as ICT and TV Director received the Global South-South best practices award.

Adonai has also been actively involved in special education and humanitarian issues, including the advocacy for web accessibility in Brazil.

Adonai graduated in Digital Multimedia from Universidade do Sul de Santa Catarina, in 2008.
